New Holland Cabin Fever

Name: Cabin Fever
Brewery: New Holland Brewing Company
Style: American Brown Ale
Brewed In: Holland, MI
Origin: USA
ABV: 6.0
Serving Glass: (poured from a bottle)
OMG Beer Rating: 7.3

Appearance: I drank this in a dark bar, but it seemed pretty damn dark brown, reddish highlights, and an off-white head that dropped to a thin film kind of fast, but wasn't in the cleanest glass either.

Aroma: nuts, hint of sweetened chocolate

Taste: the nut flavor lasted from sip to aftertaste, with a hint of raisins and chocolate. A bit boozy. Thought hops were adding a nice bitter spiciness, but in fact, this brown ale is brewed with some rye. Sweet. Doesn't get worse as the beer lingers, and hints of vanilla appear.

Mouthfeel: slightly coating-like quality, and the sweetness lingers.

Drinkability: I'd rather have this on tap than from the bottle. The sweetness, which I do expect from a brown ale, would have been fine if the beer didn't also feel a little boozy after awhile. Better flavors as it warmed. Solid offering from New Holland.
