Brewery/Name: Metropolitan Brewing Company
Style: Vienna Lager
Brewed In: Chicago
Origin: USA
ABV: 5.6
Serving Glass: Pint
OMG Beer Rating: 8.1
Appearance: reddish-tinged copper, a nice off-white head faded fast to thin rim, but left a little lacing.
Aroma: malty sweetness, caramel, dark bread, and a subtle chocolate covered, roasted nut. The slightest hint of hops, evoking maybe allspice or cloves.
Taste: Much like the aroma. Starts sweet, then bready with a hint of nuts. Hint of spices. Ends dry and crisp like a lighter lager, surprising for a malty lager that starts with such sweet complexity.
Mouthfeel/Drinkability: Nice body that holds this beer together. Keeps the sweetness smooth, just bordering on creamy (to brewers: dare you to make a creamy non-baltic porter with lager yeast...double dare you). Very much a beer to sip, but also one you can enjoy a couple of (or more, lushes) after dinner or with the appropriate food (check out the Metropolitan website for a hilarious list of suggestions).
Homebrewing/Beer Geek Notes: Vanguard and Liberty hops, Vienna malt (but how much of the grain bill?)
