The Bruery/Dogfish Head Collaboration
Dogfish Head doesn't seem to stop collaborating with people. Sam Calagione might have a record for frequent flyer miles by a craft brewer. The people at The Bruery have been very active as well (and make some fantastic beer, Saison Rue, Saison Lenthe, and Rugbrod being favorites). Check out The Bruery's blog entry that hints at some of the unique ingredients going into a Japanese-influenced collaboration brew.

Three Floyds Brewing Company and Mikkeller (of Denmark) - Third Collaboration
First, there was Hvedegoop, a hoppy wheatwine. Then came Oatgoop, a wheatwine brewed with oats. Now, the third frankenbeer Ruggoop, brewed when Mikkel of Mikkeller came to Chicago for the Craft Brewers Conference in April. Details are sparse, but this is a rye wine at about 10% ABV.

Chicago Beer News - Collaboration Alert! - Half Acre and Three Floyds team up for Invasion Helles Bock
Three Floyds of Indiana and Half Acre from Chicago's northside allied their forces to create a Helles Bock, which beernews.org reports is now fermenting. Check out the label below. A helles bock is a pale, yet strong and malty german lager, at times dry, with a lingering touch of german hop flavor. Helles Bock and Maibock are often considered to be the same, if not similar styles of german beer, with Rogue Brewing's Dead Guy Ale being one of the more commonly available American-made Helles Bock/Maibocks. Looks like we're being invaded by carp (makes sense, given the recent lawsuit about the invading asian carp species).

Beer Collaboration Alert!
Beer collaborations are on the rise. Urthel and Two Brothers conspiring to make Moaten, an oaked Flemish Red Sour Ale. Collaboration Not Litigation by Russian River and Avery. The list could go on and on. Collaboration lets two - or in the following case, three - brewing minds focus on one brew, with the final output being a frankenstein of styles and ideas. Usually, it works. And at the worst, it's going to be an interesting beer.
One of OMG Beer!'s favorite breweries, Schlafly's in St. Louis, has joined up with O'Fallon's (Missouri) and New Albanian (Indiana) brewing companies. The final result, as yet unnamed, is an Oak Aged Dry Hopped Smoked Rye Pale Ale, coming in at 6.5% ABV and 35 IBUs. Pictures and more on Hoosier Beer Geek (run by the biggest beer geek in Indiana...I'm guessing). The beer is supposed to appear at all three breweries in January, which means an excuse to visit Missouri or Indiana soon.
