Mendocino Brewing Company Blue Heron Pale Ale

Name: Blue Heron Pale Ale
Brewery: Mendocino Brewing Company
Style: American Pale Ale
Brewed In: Saratoga Springs, NY (also brewed in their Mendocino, CA facility)
Origin: USA
ABV: 6.1 %
Serving Glass: Pint
OMG Beer Rating: 7.5

Appearance: Orange, with a white head that fades to a thin ring. A bit sticky, decent lacing.

Aroma: malty, balanced, with a hint of oranges and flowers, hint of caramel?

Taste: flowery, with a hint of citrus juice, a nice bread-malt backbone. The sweetness fades to a slight bitterness, but very slight.

Mouthfeel: Ends a lot sweeter than you'd expect of a west coast pale ale, this is the most balanced offering I've ever had in the pale ale category from out west. Very drinkable. Strong, at 6.1% for a session ale, but still pretty sessionable if you've had it with a sizeable, moderately flavored meal. The body is nice as well; any lighter, or more carbonated, and this beer would be a macrobrewed version of pale ale.
